The way Things were going to BE!

Before I was a mother....I had ideas of the way my kids would be, how they would be raised, and things I would or would NOT put up with....like I said this was BEFORE I was a mother!

1. My kids were going to wear what I wanted them to wear....no questions asked! Well it is usually a fight just about every morning....if it was up to Kreighton she would wear a sun dress everyday! This is problem considering we live in Iowa!

2. My kids were only going to eat good wholesome meals and they would eat what I made them. Well there is absolutely no forcing Kyle to eat a thing...if he doesn't like it, it gets thrown on the floor! And yesterday Kreighton put sour cream on her spaghetti and made it into a sandwich...strange but she ate it!

3. I would never be one of those crazy moms that would go out last second for their kids because they changed what they wanted for Christmas. Well last year Kreighton changed last second and stated that she wanted "butterfly wings" after searching all over the place and not being able to find them...I paid $17.00 for shipping and handling to have them delivered before Christmas.

4. My kids would never be "bribed" to behave. I think Kyle ate a whole box of candy hearts at Wal-Mart of few days ago....but he was quiet and did behave!

5. I would never get a vehicle that had a DVD player in it...we our proud owners of a mini-van with a DVD player.

These are just a few of my many "ideas" of being a mother that changed once I had kids. No our kids are not perfect...but we still love them to pieces and are learning the ropes of "parenting" along the way!

Cold Cold!

Growing up snow storms met sleeping in, no school, getting to watch TV all day- I loved them!
Then when I went to college I loved them even more...NO CLASSES! It was great it didn't happen much....but when it did I took full advantage of it and loved it! Then when I worked at the bank I was usually one of the only employees that could make it to the bank...so it wasn't bad because we were always really slow! So let's say I really used to never mind snow storms...now I have a strong DISLIKE for them! It means crabby kids and stuck inside ALLLL day or days! The kids get sick of each other and of me! It means coming up with things to do to keep the kids entertained-like building a fort...and eating our meals in the fort! Coming up with new games...like Birdie-it is where the kids chirp like birds and I put food in their mouths and then we go and sleep in our "nests." Now Kyle has not really minded the snow because for him it means he gets to ride with Dad in the tractor while he pushes snow. Which is great....except after he comes in he has a MAJOR meltdown and walks around the house crying DaDa!
So now that I am grown up and a mom...I can once again say that I wished we lived somewhere warm and had no SNOW! And we cannot wait until SPRING!

Cold Iowa Weather

This is how COLD it is in Iowa today!

And this is what Kreighton picked out to wear all day!
PS can't you see how lucky I am that my THREE year old NEVER gives me attitude!

A SUNDRESS!

I told Fred we were doing her an injustice making her live in the cold Iowa weather...she is clearly a warm weather girl!

Passy Back

So we had a great week of no passys and the kids were doing great! But my kids proved they will do ANYTHING to get their passys back and on Sunday Kyle starting running a temp of 103 he was absolutely miserable so we figured we had no choice but to give it back to him! He has been a sick little boy all week and has temp has gotten up over 104.5 they are not for sure what is wrong with him and we are hoping he starts feeling better soon! And to make matters worse...I did something to my back and CANNOT walk so Fred has stepped up and been the caretaker to us all. Thank God that it isn't a busy time for him or we would be trouble! I am not sure who wants my back to feel better more...Fred or me! So for now we have one kid with the passy and one without....but as soon as Kyle feels better we will have to do it all over again!

Passy Free

So as of today the Peck Household is a Passy Free Zone! Both kids still had their passys (just in their beds) however we decided it was time for the Passy Fairy to come and "take" them. Kreighton loved talking about the Passy Fairy and completely fell for it...Kyle of course has no idea and I am very sad for him-I felt like I was taking away his best friend but figured it had to happen sometime and I wanted to do it before he figured out how to climb out if his crib and I would have to try to take away when he was in a "big boy" bed. So far so good...Kyle of course has cried and it breaks my heart but I know it will be short lived and worth it in the end. Kreighton likes to talk about it a lot but is doing great with it as well. And I promised Kreighton if she got little again (her words) she could have her passy back. This is the 2nd time it has been taken away for Kreighton-she had a 9-month period when she did not have one and then started to suck her thumb so she got it back. So hopefully the kids don't find any passys hidden away and we should be good!

Winter Fun

We have had a busy December Fred and I went to San Francisco for a little vacation for 5 days, it was a lot of fun but ready to get home to see the kiddos! But I think the kids had just as much fun as we did getting to stay (aka being spoiled) with the Grandparents. We got to be outside once to go sledding, Kreighton loved it, but Kyle spotted Bappa in the tractor and that was much more interesting to him. We went and saw Santa at the library and Santa (aka Bappa 9 toes) came to the Baragary x-mas. Kreighton loves writing to Santa and telling him what she wants, and what to get other people. She says her dad does not get anything because he did not stop at the stop sign and that Mom wants lipstick.

Decorating sugar cookies, she is happy and then MAD when I told her she could not eat the sprinkles right out of the bottle, her response was "Mama Marilyn lets me"
Kyle frosting sugar cookies....really all he did was eat the frosting!

Kreighton pulling her brother and then Kyle in the tractor with Bappa
Kreighton and Santa, she was completely not shy and loved sitting on his lap!

Nikki's Wedding

The first weekend in November I was lucky enough to travel to AZ for my college roomate's wedding. I was a bridesmaid and Fred was not sure if he would be done in the fields so I went solo. My two other roommates Carey and Nicki went as well. The weather was great and I had so much fun reconnecting with my friends. We all lived together for 2-3 years and I am so lucky to have had them as roommates. They are some of my best friends and most likely know more about me than most people. It is amazing that we are all still so close and I have no idea what I would do without any of them. And we also all married great guys! The weather was awesome and coming back to Iowa was a little depressing besides the fact I did miss Fred and the kids A LOT!
Awesome weather!
Nikki was a GOURGEOUS bride
Reception

The whole weekend was great! The wedding party was so much fun! Fred did great at home with the kids Kyle even had the flu and he had to take Kreighton to the lab twice to get her blood drawn and never complained once!
