In Good Times and Bad and Ear Infections and Throat Problems

This is what I feel like Fred and I's wedding vows should have been! Kyle had an appt today with his ENT specialist and it was decided that he needs another set of tubes and his adenoids out! And Kreighton is currently being treated for a double ear infection-she is already on her 2nd set of tubes as well! His Dr. also told us that only about 20% of kids need two sets of tubes...well our kids are keeping that average up because we are batting 2 for 2! But he promises us that Kyle will feel much better and hopefully it will keep us from having to take his tonsils out! I of course do feel guilty because growing up I had more ear and throat problems than the normal person...A LOT more! And yes maybe my father was right...before I even bring my kids home from the hospital they should put tubes in and take tonsils out! So Kyle's surgery is set for March 10th! And we take Kreighton back to the specialist on Friday, but I am not getting my hopes....she still gets upset about her ears and says they hurt!

Week-End Fun with Cousins!

This weekend was Julianna's 9th Birthday, so we went to Minnesota to have lots of fun!
We got to stay in a hotel that had an awesome waterpark, Kreighton has turned into a little fish and is not afraid of anything!
Kyle's lack of body weight (he got so cold) and ear problems kept him from spending a whole lot of time in the water...but he loved running around the hotel and playing with everyone!
Kreighton also got to experience ice skating for the 1st time...which consisted of walking around in the skates...not going on the ice!
Overall it was great weekend, and the kids had so much fun!
Being in the water makes me once again very much wanting summer to be here!

Pictures from Swimming!
This is about as far as Kreighton made it on the ice!
I love this picture!

Kyle playing video games...the great thing we don't even have to put money in it yet!
Piano time!
Kreighton loves playing dress-up and all of the toys at her cousins' house!

And we did get to see the Tetzlaffs for a bit, (I took no pictures) and get to spend some time with Clara (I didn't take any pictures of that either)

Happy Valentines Day

The kids woke up to a small gifts and pink pancakes
Kreighton got a new Fancy Nancy Book and Kyle got some little tractors!

The way Things were going to BE!

Before I was a mother....I had ideas of the way my kids would be, how they would be raised, and things I would or would NOT put up with....like I said this was BEFORE I was a mother!

1. My kids were going to wear what I wanted them to wear....no questions asked! Well it is usually a fight just about every morning....if it was up to Kreighton she would wear a sun dress everyday! This is problem considering we live in Iowa!

2. My kids were only going to eat good wholesome meals and they would eat what I made them. Well there is absolutely no forcing Kyle to eat a thing...if he doesn't like it, it gets thrown on the floor! And yesterday Kreighton put sour cream on her spaghetti and made it into a sandwich...strange but she ate it!

3. I would never be one of those crazy moms that would go out last second for their kids because they changed what they wanted for Christmas. Well last year Kreighton changed last second and stated that she wanted "butterfly wings" after searching all over the place and not being able to find them...I paid $17.00 for shipping and handling to have them delivered before Christmas.

4. My kids would never be "bribed" to behave. I think Kyle ate a whole box of candy hearts at Wal-Mart of few days ago....but he was quiet and did behave!

5. I would never get a vehicle that had a DVD player in it...we our proud owners of a mini-van with a DVD player.

These are just a few of my many "ideas" of being a mother that changed once I had kids. No our kids are not perfect...but we still love them to pieces and are learning the ropes of "parenting" along the way!

Cold Cold!

Growing up snow storms met sleeping in, no school, getting to watch TV all day- I loved them!
Then when I went to college I loved them even more...NO CLASSES! It was great it didn't happen much....but when it did I took full advantage of it and loved it! Then when I worked at the bank I was usually one of the only employees that could make it to the bank...so it wasn't bad because we were always really slow! So let's say I really used to never mind snow storms...now I have a strong DISLIKE for them! It means crabby kids and stuck inside ALLLL day or days! The kids get sick of each other and of me! It means coming up with things to do to keep the kids entertained-like building a fort...and eating our meals in the fort! Coming up with new games...like Birdie-it is where the kids chirp like birds and I put food in their mouths and then we go and sleep in our "nests." Now Kyle has not really minded the snow because for him it means he gets to ride with Dad in the tractor while he pushes snow. Which is great....except after he comes in he has a MAJOR meltdown and walks around the house crying DaDa!
So now that I am grown up and a mom...I can once again say that I wished we lived somewhere warm and had no SNOW! And we cannot wait until SPRING!
